“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world.
Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

Be Informed
I believe the most important thing to do is become informed. After I read Intolerable Cruelty by Gilbert Proulx and watched many videos showing the torture an animal endures once it is poisoned or trapped, I realized without a doubt that someone has to stand up and say loud and clear that cruelty and inhumane treatment of wildlife is not acceptable. We are losing species faster than ever before due to habitat loss. Add onto this huge debilitating factor for animals, trapping and poisoning where animals die a slow, cruel death and it is surprising that any are alive at all.
Write Your Local MLA
Once you read a few articles or view the videos I urge you to write to your provincial representatives and the Canadian government to voice your concerns. If no one says anything, the people in government believe that it is acceptable to continue the way things have been going for the last fifty years and longer without any laws in place to protect wildlife. Change only happens when people stand up for what they believe in. Obviously, wildlife cannot voice their opinion. We have to be their voice.
We are horrified to discover that someone may be cruel and inhumane to a dog or cat. The perpetrators are fined. Why is wildlife any different? Please join me in raising awareness to include wildlife in the Criminal Code of Canada where they can be protected and recognized for the sentient creatures they are.
