There is Hope
Much of the content on my website is disturbing and seems almost hopeless. However, once you recognize that poisoning and trapping is morally and ethically unacceptable because these practices are inhumane, I hope you will join me in creating change to protect wildlife. We have to be their voice. It is essential to maintain a positive outlook for wildlife even though there is so much on Facebook and in the news about the disregard for life. With awareness comes change for the better for all sentient creatures. Talking about wildlife issues like poisoning and trapping and realizing how inhumane these practices actually are will create a paradigm shift in consciousness for many people. And with this shift, the power to create change. Some positive stories in the news include: 1. In November, 2019 Trump passed the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture (PACT) Act. Animal abusers were not held to the highest standard of the law and will now face federal prosecution. 2. In May, 2019 Canada passed a law (S 203) that prohibits marine creatures such as porpoises, dolphins and whales from being held in captivity. This law is wonderful news and hopefully the beginning of more positive recognition for wildlife to follow. 3. In 2018, New Zealand declared all creatures to be sentient beings. This is a critical law-making change for moving into the next decade. Let's hope one day soon that Canada will also recognize wildlife for the sentient creatures they are. |
